A sadness....

Updated: Mar 25, 2021

Aldo had downs syndrome. He was 55 years old and he succumbed to Covid yesterday. He was my brother-in-law and Uncle Aldo to our kids and grandkids.

I met Aldo only 16 years ago but I have heard stories of his younger years.

Through him, we have seen what pure and simple joy looks like. That deep down belly laugh at the most simple of things. His tenderness with children. Laughter shared around our table after a big meal playing cards or bingo. Aldo always won - as it should be.

We have 'laugh until you fall down' memories of things he has said or done. Those memories will never fade but will be told over and over as Uncle Aldo becomes a legend to our grandkids.

Aldo, with the wonderful simplicity of his ways, taught us all about patience, and love, and empathy, and respect. He taught us about tolerance. And all conversations - every single one - with Aldo were filled with smiles and joyful banter.

Aldo, you are so loved. Be at peace. Dear Jesus, hold his hand on this final journey.
