Daily reflection and prayer .....

Each day, I update my website with a new quotation - something that touches my heart, gives me a reason to pause and ponder my faith. I love the short quotes of few words that I can remember during the day but my favourite quotes are the daily prayers that come from our most holy saints. I keep all of these quotes and prayers and scripture passages on card decks. You can see the corner of my desk with the decks piled around. I have tweets from Pope Francis which have moved me and reflections from Bishop Barron that made me see a scriptural passage in a completely different way - almost always making it immediately relevant to my world today.

Here's the prayer I am treasuring today: St. Thomas Aquinas - Grant me, O Lord my God, a mind to know you, a heart to seek you, wisdom to find you, conduct pleasing to you, faithful perseverance in waiting for you, and a hope of finally embracing you. Amen.

This prayer reminds me of so much! It reminds me to ask Jesus graciously. It reminds me to put Jesus at the center of all that I need and all that I want. "...know you.....seek you.....find you.....please you." Without Jesus at the center, my prayers are just the wishes of this world. With Jesus at the center, my prayers are the desires of the next.

My card decks have become part of my daily routine. In the morning, I check for new quotes, reflecting on each before I record them. Then during the day, each time I sit at my desk, I pull out one of the card decks and browse through it. Without exception, my eyes rest on one that soothes my soul and opens up a window in my day to reflect on God.

Grant me, O Lord my God, a heart to seek you......
